Enrolled: 39 students
Duration: 10 hours
Lectures: 17
Video: 9 hours
Level: Advanced

This module aims to train students in reading the Qur’an fluently with correct pronunciation. It will enhance the student’s ability to articulate Arabic letters and to differentiate between letters that share the same point of articulation or quality.

Additionally, it will examine in theory, and apply in practice, a full range of rules and skills of Tajwīd and Qirā’ah (correct
and fluent recitation of the Qur’an).

Lectures provide instruction on the theoretical aspects of the module. The rules and principles of recitation are then applied in practice by means of individual and group recitations in class. Correct implementations of the rules of Tajwīd are demonstrated by the teacher, and recordings of a variety of famous reciters of the Qur’an are played in class for students to listen to and imitate. Learners are expected to practice their recitation skills and improve their fluency as part of their homework.
